Dr. Peter Braam, a former senior academic at Oxford and Carnegie Mellon, created Parallel Scientific to solve high speed computing and parallel programming problems. At Parallel Scientific he is both CEO and Chief Architect.
Parallel Scientific has assembled an extraordinary team of engineers and mathematicians. They are working in areas related to compilers and domain specific languages for automatic parallelization and programming models, scalable computing for cloud and HPC, and the implementation of hardware appliances.
Parallel Programming is changing so rapidly that nobody knows what the landscape will be 10 years from now. We see unique opportunities in combining knowledge of programming languages, mathematics and HPC with cloud and hardware domain expertise.
Through our services we are creating new, generally usable frameworks, as well as unique solutions for our customers. Additionally, we are developing intellectual property to be resold through our partners.
Domain Specific Languages
Complex distributed parallel programs can leverage new frameworks often based on domain specific languages. Our team has extensive experience developing and leveraging DSLs to rapidly implement complete solutions to complex problems. We have demonstrated this in cloud / HPC contexts as well as in the FPGA / Hardware design domain.
Our efforts have demonstrated that functional programming can offer the performance that traditionally was only expected from lower level imperative programs.
